The Farm Adelaide Feraudo: Four Generations Of Dedication And Passion
The company has been established by the great-grandfather of the current owner in the first half of 19th Century near Acri locality. The main agricultural activities included vineyards, orchards and vegetables cultivations. The cultivations were extended by the young doctor Saverio Feraudo returned back from Naples to Acri to take care of the family business. He purchased the first lands in Sila Greca and Terranova da Sibari and extended the olive and citrus groves. In this period started the sheep livestock with the transhumance on own land in Sila.
During the 20th Century the company was entrusted to Filippo Feraudo who led the activities in the world wars economic difficulties. He intensified the wine vineyards cultivation and realized a winery. In this period it began the olives press in the company’s oil mill, the extensive cultivation of tomatoes in lowland areas and the bovine livestock.
In 1931 the company won important awards and prizes at the International Trade Fair of Tripoli in Libya.
Territory and Main Cultivations
Our company is located in Terranova da Sibari and San Demetrio Corone, both municipalities of Cosenza province in Calabria. The productions are located in Valle del Crati area between Sila and Pollino National Parks, a well-known area for its citrus fruits and olive trees.
With the experience gained over time and with modern farming methods we produce in harmony with the nature extra virgin olive oil, citrus fruits, wine, cereals and fodder. At the considerable extension of agricultural crops are associated cattle farming.
To enjoy the landscape and discover the local production in our company is available an holiday farm, a tasting room and one corner shop for biological farming products sale.
Quality and Certifications
The company philosophy is based on the environment respect and on the consumers health. For this reason we take care of the production processes by integrating tradition and experience with modern innovations technologies. The presence of photovoltaic systems guarantee the production of electricity from renewable sources.
We are long been committed in various initiatives to increase territory knowledge, its products and the cultural heritage that they represent.
Our manufacturing processes are constantly checked by qualified technicians who ensure quality and authenticity. Both the olive trees that the durum wheat, biological productions since 1996, are subject to the control of the Italian Association for Biological Agriculture (AIAB) and of the Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certifications (ICEA).
